Do you really want to help?
If so, how can you really help?

I hear that substance abuse programs are luxury vacations in disguise.

The Recovery Ways treatment program is a proprietary substance abuse treatment program developed from many years of research around the world. The facilities and schedules have been designed to be motivating and uplifting yet require a 24/7 dedicated commitment to succeed. Those who do not participate fully will be asked to leave.

Prescription drugs are legal, so why is there a problem?

There is only a problem if the prescribed drug becomes abused and the desire for the drug overpowers the medical value. The addiction becomes manipulative of the medical system or breaks laws to obtain additional dosages. Even if the individual desires to stop taking the drugs, it’s nearly impossible to stop alone when you suffer from the disease of addiction.

AA and Narcotics Anonymous are free. Why don’t they go there?

Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous and other 12 step programs are excellent support systems. However, the Recovery Ways program is a much broader proprietary program developed with years of research. Once the primary recovery is complete, we recommend attending a 12 step program to prevent relapse.

It is time for professional treatment?

It is difficult for the substance abuser to realize that they have a disease and need professional help. Addiction creeps up slowly on both them and you. Our professional staff can meet with you and the struggling individual to bring you closer together and understand the realities of the situation.

This is somehow your fault!

It’s NOT. It is a disease. Substance abuse is the direct result of the disease of addition. Yes it is a disease. Approximately 95% of people with substance abuse have received it related to genetic issues. The individual must be committed to get rid of the problem. Once he/she commit to themselves, your love and support will help them through the process or recovery.

Neither of their parents had a problem why do they?

Why are they so weak in dealing with their habit? They are not weak they have the disease of addiction. Like many diseases it can be fatal if untreated. This disease is physical as well as mental and must be properly diagnosed and treated in order to be treated and prevent relapse.

He/she keeps telling me they will get it under control.

They seem sincere, but….it just never seems to happen. They probably would like to be free of the alcohol or drug that is holding them hostage. Unfortunately this is not a logical disease. It can be cunning and manipulative. Addiction must be treated like any other life threatening disease. Breaking free form the cycle of addiction is virtually impossible to control by willpower alone.

We have tried everything, but nothing works.

In many cases dealing with this problem must be the focus of one’s life for a period of time. In fairness, the person’s drug of choice has been their focus for some time. Reversing the focus to be drug free requires intense professional treatment. It’s a disease that cannot be treated alone.
