Dr. Maryann Rosenthal

Maryann Rosenthal, PhD, Executive Director – Dr. Rosenthal is a highly respected clinical psychologist with extensive experience in the field of chemical dependency and recovery, as well as the assessment, education, and management of chronic pain and addiction. Dr. Rosenthal has a unique background working in both the business and clinical sectors of health care. Appointed in 1999 to the State of California’s Developmental Disabilities Board, Dr. Rosenthal has also been a member of the Domestic Violence Council since 2000 and is a founding member of the Elder Abuse Prevention Project. An internationally known speaker and author of Be A Parent, Not A Pushover, Dr. Rosenthal has consulted throughout America, Australia, Europe, and Asia on family dynamics and life achievement issues. She has been published in numerous magazines and has collaborated on many books. We are excited about the work Maryann is doing at Recovery Ways.

Christine Adams Hill, CSW, Clinical Director – Chris graduated from the University of Utah with a Masters degree in Social Work in 2009 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University in 1996. For the past 11 years Chris has worked in non-profit social service programs throughout Salt Lake Valley. She has experience working with diverse and at-risk populations. She has many years of program design, coordination and supervisory experience through her work at the Bennion Center at the University of Utah. She received Feminist Multicultural Therapy training at the University of Utah’s premiere training facility – the Women’s Resource Center, as well as at the Rape Recovery Center in Salt Lake City. Chris specializes in traumatic stress disorders, sexual abuse/violence, mood disorders and grief/loss issues.

Shari Ferguson
Shari A. Ferguson, Business Development Director – Shari brings a broad range of marketing and life experience to Recovery Ways. A graduate of the University of Washington in 1990, Shari began her career in theatre at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, London England. She transitioned in 1995 to the financial services industry where she earned eighteen combined years of experience in marketing and sales in the behavioral health, financial and employee benefits industries. The primary goal in each industry was to establish relationships and create a network of professionals for cross referrals. In 2005, while working at Cirque Lodge, she discovered her passion for helping addicts and their families discover a solution and a path to recovery. Each day brings a new level of gratitude for the gifts she receives while working in this industry.

Vickie Weiner, Admissions Director– Vickie’s caring, compassionate knowledge has helped people find the help they need. Having personally worked the last 20 years with Nationally recognized pioneers in the Behavioral Health field; she has an extensive background in all aspects of recovery and is recognized as a leading admissions professional. Her knowledge of available programs, treatment choices, and insurance/financial resources enables her to provide assistance to individuals, families, companies, and professionals to find the right level of treatment for someone in need of help.

Debbie Reid, Alumni Director – Debbie has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Brigham Young University. Debbie has worked in the event planning industry for several years creating corporate events and international incentive based trips. Debbie enjoys cycling and is the Director and Founder of a charity, Bikes for Kids Utah, giving at risk children a new bike and education about safety and healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Duy Pham MD, Psychiatrist - Dr. Pham, one of four Board Certified Addictionologists in the state of Utah, graduated with an MD eight years ago from the University of Utah School of Medicine. Early in his career he met his wife, another plastic surgeon, while working in Viet Nam repairing traumatic deformities as a plastic surgeon. He went on to complete his adult psychiatry residency at Carnitas Carney Hospital, Dorchester MA and finished his fellowship training in the subspecialty of addiction psychiatry at Boston University, Boston MA.  He is certified by the ABMS® Member Board: The American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology specializing in Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry. To better serve the complex patients he works with, he has gone on to get advanced training in ECT (electroconvulsive therapy), TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and VNS (vegal nerve stimulation) – all for the adjunctive treatment of certain types of treatment resistant depression.

Dr Pham enjoys teaching and training psychiatric residents at the University of Utah and believes in helping them to see the importance of offering addicted patients choices and options for their recovery. Dr Pham is very excited to add working in Residential Treatment Services to his vast array of experience.

Aimee Dansie, AMFT, Therapist - Aimee earned her Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University and her Bachelor’s of Science degree from the University of Utah in 2008. Over the last five years she has earned experience working with troubled adolescents and their families. She worked at the University of Utah with the Teen Mother and Child Program, volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate with the Salt Lake County Juvenile Court System and completed her practicum with Salt Lake County Youth Services and Turnabout Stillwater Academy. Her therapy approach focuses on the family systems and how each client’s family of origin affects his/her addiction. Aimee specializes in marriage and family therapy as well as fitness and diet as a form of mood management.

Mark M. Pepper, APC, Therapist – Mark graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Masters degree Professional Counseling and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah in 1986. Mark has worked in the drug and alcohol recovery field for 13 years, in both residential and outpatient settings. He has experience working with diverse and at-risk populations and working with various populations in the mental health community. He has a thoughtful and understanding insight of those in need of substance abuse and mental health treatment, and attends to his passion with enthusiasm and excitement. Mark specializes in 12-Step addiction recovery and men’s issues. Mark feels strongly that those in recovery all have a special gift that is waiting to be uncovered, and that recovery is paramount in discovering that beautiful character.

Pam EgelundPam Egelund, Recreation Therapist – Pam graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelors of Science in Recreation Management with a Therapeutic Recreation and Leisure Emphasis. She is a certified Personal Trainer, with experience in metabolic VO2/RMR testing and nutrition and has six years of experience working in Residential Treatment Centers. She co-wrote and developed a girls adolescent residential treatment program and has worked within the school system developing adventure leadership programs locally and abroad in Zimbabwe. Pam is passionate about the therapeutic benefits of physical activity and creating positive experiences through leisure and recreation activities. She believes that leisure and recreation in recovery provides an ideal opportunity for one to re-create and re-connect with yourself and your family.

Clint Tolman, Business Manager – He currently attends the University of Utah, studying Criminal Justice. Clint has extensive work in assisting patients in the recovery process, and has seen the positive effects of recovery in his family. Because of his passion for supporting positive changes through recovery, Clint provides an uplifting attitude for both co-workers and patients at Recovery Ways. Clint enjoys watching and playing sports, hunting, and spending time with close friends and family.

Amanda Williams, Admissions Coordinator – Amanda discovered her passion for helping others create a new life in recovery while volunteering at a sober living facility in Salt Lake City. There she gained valuable skills in communication. Her ability to share personal insight, and encouraging motivation helps to make the first few days at Recovery Ways a positive experience. Her positive outlook on life has also helped others make the decision to change their lives and pursue new goals. Amanda is currently pursuing a mixed degree of business and fashion design. Amanda enjoys playing and listening to music, has a passion for traveling, and a love of the arts. She loves being a part of the Recovery Ways community, where her contribution to the program makes a difference in peoples lives.
